I was hoping to get info on the Boulder and Fort Collins areas. My husband and I are thinking of moving out west from New York for a better quality of life. We currently live 25 mins outside of NYC in an affluent suburb with a very good pubic school system. We have 2 girls - one entering 6th and the other entering 9th. Our top priority is a good public school system. We enjoy good restaurants, ethnic food, cultural events, the outdoors (we are all avid skiers), theater, etc...We do not have to worry about commuting as my husband has his own business and works from home. What schools districts should we consider? How far is the nearest major ski area?? Any skiing close enough for a day trip? Are there other areas we should consider?? (Keep in mind we are liberals - from what I've read on this forum Colorado Springs is not an option.) Any info you can pass along would be greatly appreciated.

My family and I moved to Louisville about 10 miles south of Boulder a couple of months ago from New Orleans. This area is great. We have 2 children, a son 13 and a daughter, 10. The Boulder Valley Schools are very good. Our daughter is in special ed and the services are great. Eldora ski resort is about 45 min from Boulder. Everyday we wake up and can't believe we live here. It is like living a dream. I know you will enjoy the Boulder area. By the way, Louisville was named the #1 place in the entire country to raise a family in a recent publication. I would have to agree.
