Belmar is only a small slice of Lakewood as a whole. It is a slice of new urbanism in the middle of a very large, generic, almost rural, sprawling middle American suburb.

Littleton and Lakewood are both very family-oriented, conservative, suburban cities. They're both liveable, clean, and generally safe with decent and even good schools. So they're both very nice places to live, but I wouldn't suggest that the sort of person who likes Belmar live anywhere else than Belmar. Anything south of Alameda or west of Wadsworth will seem like a different city.

Let me add, because it's terribly confusing to all the posters looking for useful information who don't know how "Littleton," "Lakewood," and "Englewood" are used by the post office, etc. -

They are names assigned to locations that include sizeable areas that comprise unincorporated Jefferson, Douglas, and Arapahoe counties, apart from the actual cities of Littleton, Lakewood, and Englewood.

Thank you for the info. And no offense about the remark to littleton, this person must have gotten it wrong, obviously.I really am thinking we would Littleton. Very excited! Any suggestions on any good apt. complexes, or better rental company for homes. I would love to rent a house, but open to both.

I live in Belmar and couldn't agree more, we really love it here but as soon as I go outside there is nothing appealing until I hit downtown Denver/Highland.

Littleton is next to the foothills of the Front Range, you can be in spectacular mountain scenery with a 15 minute drive.
