After recently getting a job at Vail Resort, I'm trying to figure out my living situation. I'm curious about the employee housing. I haven't read great things about it. Anyone have any insight? Thanks so much!

The best I can say about employee housing is that it's relatively inexpensive, allows a seasonal lease and is close in to Vail.

Check craigslist: high rockies classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events and the Vail Colorado | VailDaily.com News for roommate and lock off situations in Vail, Eagle-Vail and Avon to see the comparative cost to employee housing. Be sure to look for something on the bus route, parking is at a minimum in Vail.

Congrats on the job!

Vail Resorts housing is well, not the best. Unless you are 20 and don't mind tight communal living in ratty digs. A lot of people at that age can roll with it and they are only doing it for a season or two.

I don't want to say too much in a public forum, but I will say I personally know of one revolt last year over the housing that caused quite a stinky poo. And it was pretty justified as well in my opinion

I was lucky to have a good employer that had pretty reasonable housing.

Depends what you financial status is, age and what you are going to be earning. In my opinion, if you have the money it is best to find housing outside of the employee housing thing.

Vail area housing at this time is readily available, in price ranges around $500-600/month. You can bring that cost down a bit with shared housing/roomates. There's a lot of properties in the area on the market right now that are at lower price points than they've been in the past few years; it's a much more competitive market than I've seen for several years.
