Generally speaking, its about an hour each way. If you drive, you might have yourself 5-10 minutes, but the lightrail is a decent option, esp. if you have the patience to get hooked on it. Its not far in terms of miles, but the North / South roads between HR and downtown are full of stop lights and fairly congested at rush hour.

Traffic will be worse on C-470/ I-25 or C-470 to 85 (Santa Fe) during the rush hours of 7:30 to 8:45 am.

Light Rail will save you time and money on parking.

Lightrail is the best because for the most part you are constantly moving. Exept for stops along the way that is.

Personally, if you are able to ride the Mineral light rail -- it's a lot faster than riding the lincoln light rail. Now, if you live East of University, you might still opt for the Lincoln light rail instead, because its closer.

When I lived in HR, I only drove less than 1x per month ... loved riding the light rail.

Better yet, you drive over to the RTD station next to the HR library and catch the local bus to the light rail station. Then you drive about 1 mile and spend your time reading, sleeping, viewing the mtns, socializing ... instead of driving. It worked for me for years and I loved it.

8:00 am and 5:00 pm. I am assuming these are "Rush Hours", they are in Rapid City (where I'm from). The last time I was in Denver, I made it from Southe DTC to Downtown in about 15 minutes. That was driving on I-25 at 8:00 am. Highlands Ranch seems to be a bit farther away though, so I was wondering....

The major bottle neck going north is during the evening rush (If you can believe it) and mostly starts around downtown stretches all the way down 25 through an area called the narrows. Vice versa Rush hour around here starts to get bad roughly around 3:30pm morning is starts around 6:30ish roughly. Bad by denver standards only but a whole different animal than Rapid city I am assuming

Way different than Rapid City. I live on the south edge of Rapid City and I have to drive to work downtown during the morning "rush hour".

I make it in ten minutes!
