Today the snow has been coming down all day long. I've seen dozens of people lift their windsheild wipers when they park. Does this simply help with getting the snow off the wipers to better clear the windshield later on? We never did this in Wisconsin, despite all of the snow we had there...Should I be doing this, too?

Helps keep the wipers from being iced onto the windshield.

Smile Explanation no longer needed...

After waking up the next morning, and almost killing myself in I-25 because I couldn't see anything through my icy windows, I realized exactly why people lift their wipers. Geesh, I've never fought so hard to get ice off my car in my life.

Yes, but I prefer it to cleaning thousands of FL's "love bugs" off my windshield - BTDT this past May in Fort Myers.

That looks EXACTLY like me!

Lovebugs are the most disgusting beasts on the earth, but I always wonder who leads & who follows when they're "stuck" - the female or the male? My arm always went numb scraping their carcasses off my bumper.

Carry a cheap shower curtain or a piece of 4ft x 10 to 12 ft. piece of plastic in your car. It will protect your car if you
have to put something messy in your car and if it is going to snow you can put it across your windshield and wipers.
Catch it in the doors to hold it in place. When you are ready to leave, release it, shake it out and throw it in your trunk.
Quickly push off any other snow that might fly off and you are ready to drive away. NO SCRAPING your windshield.

Take a couple dryer sheets (the kind with fabric softener) dampen them with water and scrub a little, those dern love bugs will come right off bumpers, windshields, mirrors, ect.

I observed this my first winter here...and after contemplating a moment realized the practicality of it. But it shocks me that I'd never even heard or thought of it when I lived in Iowa, where winters are so much worse.

Lived in Central FL for 27 years. Love bugs are much worse than any ice or snow
