I currently reside in Florida with my wife and 3 children (ages 5,3,1) ; we both work as teachers ( she is technically a behavior specialist and has Master's in Social Work)

When it was just the two of us Florida was suitable; our house was adequate, and many of the things that start to "weight" on your mind as a parent are absent.
Well 3 children later, the house is much too small, and Florida is no longer to our liking.
We want to live in a state with a better education system, a stronger economy, a safer environment.

Colorado is on the very short list of possible destinations for my family in the near future; however I am not familiar with it enough to pinpoint where exactly I want to be, I just know what we want.

I don't want to live in a urban area, but a within 30-45 minute commute is fine. Like outside of Denver or Boulder or something like that would be great, whatever you guys think is generally the best area.

Just something so I can start looking, contact a Realtor and point them in a general direction.

300-400k range

any questions and feedback is welcomed

They drive like Florida drivers here, so you'll fit right in.
You have options... Castle Rock, Broomfield, Superior, Louisville, Littleton, Longmont, just to name a few. You'd probably want to live more in the vicinity of Denver than you would Colorado Springs, Pueblo, or the Western Slope.

LOL, Oh god, and I was hoping to get away from that. And for the record; we drive normal it's all of you that come down here that don't know how to drive

Let me ask you about Pueblo, I saw some property that looked beautiful, and the price was amazing also, but someone told me it was Colorado's "Spanish Slums" , Is there any truth to that? I found it odd because the house I saw did not look like any "slums" I have ever seen, and as far as Spanish people go, well, I have no issues there. But I don't want to move into a bad area.

^ Do a search on CD forums on Pueblo and you'll find a lot of opinions and information in the threads. Some people hate the place and some absolutely love it. Me, I'm a fan of Pueblo. It's not for everyone but it's not a bad town. If I didn't have a job I love here in Colorado Springs I'd take a serious look at heading south to Pueblo.

Take a look at Colorado Springs. It's not as urbanized as the northern Front Range but with a metro area pushing 700,000 people it has everything you'd need. It's less of a city more of a big town trying to grow up, if that makes sense. I'm just partial to the southern Front Range, it's easier access to outdoor recreation and not as crowded, yet.

Why do you say that? The OP specified that he does not want to live in an urban area and while I know there are lots of suburban areas around Denver, places like Colorado Springs are much less urban itself, even downtown.

You do know denial is the first stage of guilt, right?

Pueblo.... I'd never live there, personally, and I posted a meme in a previous thread which I think summed it up nicely...

It has parts which are good, parts which are not so good, just like any other Colorado city, or any other city anywhere.

Look at the rest of his requirements. That's where Co. Springs finds itself particularly lacking.

Actually, the saying is "denial is the first stage of GRIEF".
Are you going to post that stupid cartoon every time someone mentions Pueblo?

The best part of Pueblo is that most people feel the same way as Mire.

Pueblo isn't for everyone, but it is affordable, has a real sense of history, and is within and hour or so of some really beautiful mountains. I've had family there for over 100 years... many of them have chosen to remain there for good reason.

I prefer my version.
And I'll post it as I see fit to.

Quick question on the subject, since I've never bothered to ask... Pueblo West... entirely separate town, or just a district of Pueblo proper?

Pueblo West is unincorporated Pueblo County. Consider it a suburb of Pueblo.
