My husband and I moving to Weston. We know we want to live in Weston however not sure what are some better areas to live. Too many gated communities here so we cannot get in and check them out. Is there one that is more desire able for families with small children (2 and 3 yrs old). We have agents advising us to live in certain areas but I like to head some other views. Price is not an issue. Thank you

Weston info may best be found in the general Colorado section as it is no where close to Colorado Springs. Trinidad is the closest town of any size. Do a search on info for Trinidad. Not sure it would be tops on my list for relocation with a young family, but I don't know the specifics of your situation.

I don't know much about Weston myself. My sister have done some project management for houses being built in the area and yes, there are some multi-million dollar homes up in those hills, hence the gated communities. However, most of these are not primary residences and are summer homes. As such, I don't know that your children will be recieving much of an educational opportunity there and entertainment will be limited to Trinidad State Park, hiking, camping, fishing. Of course you are a few hours closer to Taos and Sante Fe, but if those are your objectives, there are closer places to them that are desireable. You seem to have a rather diverse set of previous locales, and while Weston has some high end real estate, you might tire of it in short order as a full time resident. Resale efforts might be somewhat limited when you do decide to leave.

Moved from the COLO SPGS sub-forum to the main COLO forum.

I just did a google drive by of Weston; looks like a town where the predominant form of life is large and small trucks. Has a quaint looking old-time general store with a post office; takes me back to some of my childhood memories. Not sure the attraction unless the desire is to get far away from civilization, which I can understand.

We can help you more if you tell us more about things like your work, your target budget to rent or buy, your other interests or hobbies, etc.

Heck, if price is no issue, why are you limiting yourself to the area around Trinidad? As others have pointed out, that place is really no place special, and your children will not exactly get an outstanding education from the local schools. Are you living in Trinidad now?
