Loveland Ski Area Info (Winter Park: train, deal, park)

Good afternoon to all,

I’ve been to Colorado many times, just never fortunate enough to make it to the area to snowboard, but that’s finally changing this year! I was fortunate enough to come into a couple Ski passes at Loveland Ski Area, and need some info regarding the snowfall.

Due to the holidays, prior plans, etc...it looks like Early-Mid December is the only time we’ll be able to go to the area to ski, how is the snowfall/conditions usually around this time? It looks like the Ski Area usually opens well before then, so I’m assuming it’s okay? Just wanting to double check before booking a flight and such. Any other info that could be useful is appreciated as well!

Usually by mid-December the season is quite active. Can vary any year, stay tuned to websites that cover the ski scene.

Not so far away Winter Park may have better early conditions (but you will need to check all areas if it is a late yr for first snows that build the base).

Loveland has better early season conditions.

Early December can be hit or miss with a thin base. Last season was pretty brutal. Do your snow dance!

Loveland and Arapahoe Basin are two of the best for early skiing. Most years in mid December the conditions will be good. Last year was not one of those years!

December is hit or miss. By January it's usually, though not always, a solid base. Loveland is a high elevation resort so it does do better early and late in the season. I'm a believer that April is one of the best times to ski due to warmer weather, many less people, and enough of a base to cover rocks. The snow can be crusty, but I'll deal with crusty over spotty and you still have a chance for fresh snow.
