My wife and I are wanting to relocate to colorado within a year, but we need help finding a town. Currently we are living in a small town about an hour west of St.louis. We are looking are for a smaller town that still has enough to keep us occupied. We love the outdoors camping, fishing, hiking, hunting..... well at least I like to hunt. But we also like to go to the city every now and then. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

MO > Colo will stretch your Real Estate $$$, do you have a price range? City size, amenity requirement?
I'd be looking on the west slope or far south (weather is a bit colder, but prop cheaper and hunting better). or... I'd consider Laramie, WY (much more favorable tax structure for 'retired' or fixed income folks, (sorry, don't know your age...
) and close to CO (beautiful drive to Ft Collins, and fun too!, especially in the snow (wide sweeping curves))) I did it for 7 yrs on the 'Home stretch' of my 400 mile newspaper truckdriving route though WY, NE, SD and CO
Maybe you can afford Estes Park, then you can bag your elk on the golf course
There were about 50 head hanging out on the front yard of hospital, last I was through. It is a great place, and they even have a nice indoor swimming pool !! (not as nice as Loveland) Pretty quiet in the winter, but I would rent out the joint in the summer and head to WY. Not yellowstone
, maybe the Snowy range (Laramie) or Bighorns (Sheridan)
also, think "Hot Springs !", Glenwood Springs is great if you can afford it, but go north and there might be some affordable stuff. South of there is a bit to "trendy".
Work shouldn't be an issue in front range or bigger cities, Colo is doing pretty well. If you want 'big bucks' for a job, go to WY (the wind blows there...
)
Housing is tough to find at the moment in WY, but that will change

You might check out Pagosa Springs. It is a small town with pine trees, log cabins, hunting, hiking, fishing and all that. Plus you can go into Durango (about an hour away) for lots of entertainment.

There were about 50 head hanging out on the front yard of hospital, last I was through. It is a great place, and they even have a nice indoor swimming pool !! (not as nice as Loveland) Pretty quiet in the winter, but I would rent out the joint in the summer and head to WY. Not yellowstone
