Default Grand Lake Photos

I visited Grand Lake recently and saw yet another side to Colorado. Beautiful! Every time I think it can't get any better here....well, then it does.

I recommend visiting the Kaufmann House Museum. It's an historical hotel tucked behind the downtown main drag, right along the boardwalk. There's a wealth of history inside of the house and they encourage you to touch everything - you can even try using the antique washing machine.

This along US-40.

I was there last summer... beautiful! Wish I had taken a few more photos.
I see the Ice Cream place that we stopped at.

Great photos, and proof positive that that area's "ground zero" for beetle kill. If it ever lit up, it'd look a lot like the landscape in Cormac McCarthy's novel "The Road"

Sad to see folks who can't see the forest through the trees. Cognitive dissonance, I reckon.

rangefront is on a distinguished road
Just to second Sockeye, nearly all the conifers in these photos are dead and will come down soon - either by wind or (hopefully not) by fire. Here's a view of Grand Lake from Google maps:

The overhead view shows the extent of red, dead trees.
