Is Pueblo, Colorado a nice place to relocate? (Denver, Pueblo West: houses, neighborhoods)

My husband will be retiring in August and we are already looking in purchasing some property. We have looked in Reno area of Nevada and also Las Vegas. My husband was born in Colorado, so we are thinking that maybe we should really look into moving there. I do have three adult children. My concern is my daughter who is currently attending Junior College and is also doing auditions to get her acting career going. How is the entertainment business there? Is there a good univeristy or Junior College? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and also how is the weather throughout the year there. My husband loves the sunshine. We know that it snows as well. Thanks for any advice you can give us

Why retire to an old steel mill town that's trying to re-invent itself. There are soooooo many nicer places to retire to, like Pueblo West, Canon City, Florence, Salida, Buena Vista and TONS of stuff further up the Front Range.

Sounds like you're in my age group of below 65 years and fairly active. I'd consider parts of Denver metro area; great neighborhoods up there that give you access to a light rail system and the myriad of cultural and sporting events that add tons to your quality of life.

Not to mention the western slope towns.

There are some threads in here on Pueblo, find them with the search tool and read up on it. The weather there is more desert-like than the Front Range, warmer overall, with some summer temps near 100 but it's dry like LV.

What sort of climate are you seeking, price range, interests, etc, and we'll have much more specific suggestions for you to consider.

Pueblo is becoming a place for retired people to move because of our climate. Pueblo, also, has a great university, Colorado State University - Pueblo, and a coumninty College, Pueblo Community College.

If you want more land I would look into Pueblo West or east in the area known as "the Mesa".

My husband likes to hunt and fish. I like to hike and bike ride. We our mid 50's. He is a construction worker and I am an administrative assistant (Secretary). We will have about 120K cash and want to pay cash for a home with some acerage. I know it sounds impossible. That's why we are still considering the Reno area of Nevada where we have found numerous property, but not really sure if that's the place for us.

If you like to fish Pueblo is perfect for you. Pueblo is next to the Pueblo Resivor just west of town that has great fishing. Plus Pueblo sits on highway 50 and its a easy drive to the mountains for hunting. Pueblo West has houses on a lot of land for a cheap price and $120,000 should be more then enough.
