Hope they use this office for growth. Taking 20k feet off the market combined with removing the old SCANA building from a rental building will do a lot in reducing the vacancy rate. It is early but would not be surprised to see movement towards constructing a new tower in a few years.

Also good to see non govt growth downtown.

Great news for Main Street!

"When AgFirst moves in, the plaza will be 100% occupied, Lockwood said. Also, the Central Business District vacancy rate for Class “A” space will drop to 8.7%, the lowest rate in more than 20 years, Lockwood added."

Maybe we will get another new tower sooner than later? Where on Main Street would you guys like to see one?

This is great news. Don't forget, removing the Palmetto's class C space will reduce the overall rate even more. I remember reading a post on here (no it was not from GSUPSTATE, although it was a Greenville resident) trashing Columbia's vacancy rate. As I said then, the class A space is in good shape, .....better today @8.7%. Seems as though people in the industry have a hard time understanding basic metrics. As a bonus, the additional professionals on Main will help the restaurant scene, only wish this building was closer to the core.

Is there space on Main for a new tower? I would like to see a midrise in the 10 story range connecting Main with the Vista, maybe closer to Assembly somewhere, .....Gervais at Main. With the proximity and views of the statehouse, a building on this corner with an attached hotel would be an easy lease to sell. It would also incent the city/state to continue Assembly improvements from Blossom back to Gervais.

“We thought it was important for the city to stay downtown.” Hear that, SCANA?

I'd like to see one on Main at Lady across from First Citizens. A 35-40 story tower.
