I believe that list. Even with my not being a native I have noticed that for a lot of people going to USC was like moving on to 13th grade. If you grow up surrounded by people that followed the same path you can develop some pretty deep roots.

USC tailgating is serious business. I've never seen anything like it.

All large state universities are "13th grade".

Go Gamecocks -- let's make it a great year!!

Columbia is a lot of things. Here's an article from The State about the economic impact of football season. Probably about 75% of the people who spend their money in town during home game weekends aren't students.

That's an interesting statement. I think it's true, though, but what's interesting is if you replace "anti-Semitic" with anti-Israel," the reverse is true: there are a lot more liberals who are anti-Israel than conservatives.

There is no material difference between a Clemson and USC "education."

People act like schools make a person successful. Your general intelligence, drive, along with some luck is largely what matters in terms of financial and/or job success in life. Education is part of that, but the same person going to one school over another probably isn't going to matter, assuming the schools are generally comparable.

I think that other than what each school offers in terms of majors and specialization (i.e. USC more business Clemson more engineering) your exactly right. It is about who you know more and more than what you know. Now on the same token who you know might be reflective on what school you graduated from but overall that is the ultimate key.

I also think that a lot of times (not all of course) students choose to go to USC or Clemson because they grew up fans and make the wrong choice for their educational goals based off of that. For me I always wanted to go to Clemson and have been a fan since I was little, but I also wanted to go into Mass Communications and felt that I would be lost at a big school so I went to Francis Marion and was able to gain much more there for what I wanted to do. As much as I love Clemson and would have loved to follow in my family's footsteps by going there, it would have been the absolute wrong decision for me.

That is way to rational and mature! Can't have any of that in these threads. LOL

I don't think they're anti-Israel, I think they're anti-west bank development.
