We just moved here last week. As I'm unpacking our boxes, I'm trying to figure out where to store them for our next move. We have moved 4 times in the last 5 1/2 years, so the next move is guaranteed. However, this time I don't have a climate controlled basement to put the boxes in. We don't have a FROG, so that's not an option. We have an attic, crawl space, and some space in front of our cars in the garage. Is there a place I can put these boxes without inviting a bug problem?

What is a "FROG"?
Break down the boxes if you can and either store them in the attic wrapped tightly in shrink wrap or store them in the rafters of the garage the same way.
Otherwise get rid of them and collect different boxes when you move again. Hopefully by then you will have gone through all your items and get rid of things you don't want, need or haven't used since the last move. Then you will perhaps need fewer boxes.

Oh sorry, a FROG is a finished room over the garage.

I would love to believe that we will need less boxes next time, but we downsized pretty well during this move. We had 3 charity organization pickups as we went from a 3,200 sq. ft. house to just over 2,000 sq.ft.

I suppose a small storage unit is an option, though it seems a little silly to rent one of those and just put empty boxes in it.

On the other hand, if the contents of your unit ever did go up for auction for whatever reason someday, at least you'd have the satisfaction of knowing you ruined some joker's day when he paid good money for a lot of boxed air.

I'd recycle them and get new ones the next time I move. It seems like a lot of effort to find a place to store empty boxes.

Yeah i'd agree to just toss. Corrugate does not store well in high temps w/ humidity, so a year or so in an attic here or worse in the crawl space and you'd likely want new ones next time anyway. And no sense giving bugs a comfy home Lol

If tossing them really isn't an option, put them in the attic.

Storing them in the garage just invites bugs and mold.

Flatten them, wrap in plastic and put under the beds, sofa etc.

If you keep them, be sure to really seal them up in plastic well. Wrap tightly and completely. Old cardboard boxes are a breeding ground for cockroaches. They love the glue and adhesives in them.

I'm going to dump all of the moving boxes, except the ones for our 2 flat screen TVs. They are going under the bed in our spare room since I don't want to flatten them and need the styrofoam inside for protection during our next move. I really all of your advice on this matter. Thanks!
