The significant change I have noticed is a connecting link from Interstate 20 to Interstate 126. I like the Bush River Road trumpet interchange alternative.
I do not know the logic of redoing Interstate 26 exits 101 (Broad River Road (United States Route 76/United States Route 176)) and 102 (Lake Murray Boulevard (South Carolina Highway 60)). Both partial cloverleaf interchanges are fine as they are.
Do you think they’ll put lights up the interstate when they redo it from Chapin to 126? I realize that’s about 20 miles of light so probably a good chunk of money. But shouldn’t it be done?

Highly unlikely as DOT cant even keep up with current interstate lighting. If it were done it’d be probably be around the interchange or stop at exit 101. Should it be done yes. A good teller will be if 385/85 interchange gets lighting.
Every urban area I've been too has well lit interstates. Even Charleston (I-26) and Greenville (I-85) are well lit. The DOT should install lights for safety.

Since they passed the gas tax increase more lighting has been added, and they are also experimenting with solar lighting on 26 and high capacity LED lights on 126. South Carolina is behind the times on Mast Arms and Interstate lighting in general, though.
Went to the meeting today, all I can say is, while it’s under construction getting places is gonna be a cluster f*$#... It looks confusing on a map, but once they explain it to you, it makes a lot more sense. Also helps they had detailed zoom ins on smart boards. Haha
I went to the DOT meeting today and me and a few other people voiced our opinions today. The main topic was the proposed bridge over 26 connecting tram road with frontage rd.
But my main thing and a few others concerns were we could allocate some of this money towards public transit. Mainly buses getting bus Lanes and Commuter Rail Transit. Because over the next 10 years this area under construction is gonna be a traffic nightmare and all honesty it'll be better to use some of the money to build a commuter rail connecting Downtown to Ballentine or Downtown to Irmo.
Something needs to be done because this is too much money going into a project just for cars. There's no bike, walking like sidewalks or public transit opinions with this project just cars.

Doesn’t help that, once they’re done building it, they only project it to help for 13 years... Why not plan for further out? 🙄

I think every major road project like this one is a cluster f*$#, it's basically the equivalent of trying to perform open heart surgery on a person running a marathon!
We just don't have enough smart people working on these things. The planning should be constant, from decades ago. I understand the public transportation thing, but I just don't think our suburbs are big enough to support it, much less people parking their cars and using it. Talk about a choke point, the entire state is going to choke on all this growth, with these clowns dragging their azzes. Same as the big "whale " projects, trying to direct them to the rural counties. We should take them where ever we can get them, and then let them help pay for the infrastructure. Everything is tied together, from the roads to the port. I Would really like someone smarter than me please go get on board with these people, and let's get moving, literally.
