I certainly did find that website interesting! I'm also going to send the link to my cousin so her children can learn more about the city and the rivers. I took them to Riverfront park this past weekend when i was up there and they enjoyed looking at the old structures, listening to the animals and walking the trails. I'm very positive that they will love this site!!! Thanks Matt!

Default Lived here all my life.

I have lived in and around Columbia all of my life. Columbia has grown slowly. It has it's beautiful areas and it's run down areas.

The weather lately seems to have two seasons when you look at the temperatures alone. Summer starts in May and ends in September. Fall starts in October and ends in April. I have an increase in sinus infections because during the months that it's supposed to get cold it never really does. During the normal winter months the temperatures can be 20 in the morning and in the 70's by evening. There is such a drastic change in temperatures that you have to dress in layers.

Some people around here call Lexington county God's country because of Lake Murray. It's a beautiful lake. If you're into fishing then you want to live near the lake. They have a bass tournament every year.

Jobs are good here unless you're in a technical field then you might want to look elsewhere. Greenville has more IT related jobs.

I have been contemplating leaving SC here lately because I seem to be suffering from the "Been there done that syndrome." I seem to have done most everything there is to do around here enough times that it has become old hat and I have grown bored of it. On the other hand when you look at the cost of living compared to other locations around the country it makes me think twice. The cost of housing here lately seems to be going down. The home I'm in now, in the Northeast area of Columbia, depreciated over the past year and a half. IT went down by 10K. Not too happy about that since we were trying to refinance.

Every place has it's idiosyncrasies and Columbia is not an exception. To those who are contemplating or moving here soon, Welcome.
