What can someone tell me about the 900 block of Northwood? Im relocating from Cincinnati and up here landlords will list a property as being in a desirable neighborhood when in reality its often in a much less desirable neighboring neighborhood. So I guess first, is this really Earlewood? Second if so, would this be a desirable part of the neighborhood? Is there anything wrong with the area? For some context if youre familiar with Cincinnati I am from Northside so Im not looking for some all white suburban utopia. For those unfamiliar with where im coming from Im perfectly comfortable with urban, diverse, neighborhoods that are primarily safe with some common sense but Im not unused to a few issues from time to time. I definitely want diversity. I dont want the exact same neighbors on all four sides of me even if those neighbors happen to be exactly like me. The neighborhood I live in now is one of the hottest in the city but if you live on the wrong street within this neighborhood you might as well be in Avondale which is a constant warzone. So I guess im wanting to make sure the house im considering on Northwood isnt going to put me in that type of situation.
The 900 block of Northwood is about as Earlewood as you can get. I live in Keenan Terrace, the next neighborhood to the north. Earlewood is a very diverse neighborhood and that is a decent part of the neighborhood. You're in the city so don't expect total quiet and neighbors with 2.5 children. Earlewood is heavily LGBT and is one of the most liberal areas in SC.
Heart of Earlewood, great area. I lived a couple blocks away from there for 5 years. Walking distance to Marshall and Earlewood parks, 5 minutes to everything downtown. That area is only going to get hotter once Niemi's new restaurant/beer garden opens up.
Side note: Gadsden St between Northwood and Darlington may be one of the prettiest streets in Columbia.
Currently live in Earlewood, on Park St. We love it! Neighbors are nice, the neighborhood is very diverse, and a $5 Uber to downtown. We moved from Greenville last year and are enjoying it.
