I have heard of something called "property tax" that you pay on your vehicle?

Is this a large amount as I have heard if your car is newer or are the fees reasonable?

We don't want to be in for a shock if we decide to relocate and get hit with a bill for $2000 just to register our vehicle.

Thanks!

Lexington County has a tax estimator page. http://www.lex-co.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsTaxBill/TaxEst/vTaxEst.htm (broken link)

It looks like the going tax rate is roughly 2.61%, so you cars/RV's would have to be worth $76,415 to have a $2000 tax bill.

our recent bill in Richland cty for 05 Scion was around 140, and last year I paid in the 500's for an 08 4Runner. Taking that into account along with our home property tax we are still lower then in WI
