Anyone has any tips on the best way to find "affordable" and "safe" housing in the Columbus, Georgia area? Thanks!

Just look up a realty company like Waddell, Kennon Parker Duncan & Key. That's the best place to start.

Cool Thursday 8/26/10 7pm

Hi!

Thank you. Any "areas" I need to stay out of (lol) = every city has those areas.

Stay north of Macon Road. That is the main road that divides the city in half. You can find some nice places south of it, but all of the best places are definitely on the north side of the city.

Cool Jobs?

Thanks, what about jobs? Do you think I would be able to locate one near that area?

What constitutes affordable to you?

Do you need to live within walking distance to a job or do you drive? The whole city is drivable within 15-25 minutes.

Cool Friday 8/27/10 9:15am EST

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to respond.

To be honest, I am just shopping right now as I hope to be able to move there in December of this year and trying to get as much information as I can.

I am glad to hear that the whole city is drivable within 15-25 minutes. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to walk to walk, but flexible on that.

Thanks again!

The responses that you get will be more meaningful if you are specific in your question. Maybe I think that $2500 a month is reasonable rent. If you don't, my response won't be particularly helpful to you.

What kind of place do you want to live in? The 'burbs, an urban loft, a historic neighborhood, a rustic fish camp in the woods?

I don't know where you are coming from, but it is rip-roaring hot here. If you don't want to arrive at your destination a sweaty mess, you're probably going to drive.

Cool Sunday 8/29/10 1:06am EST

Hi, you are right and as the time gets nearer I will repost and see what everyone has to suggest.

I am coming from Orlando, Florida which is also hot and humid. I did spend some time in BOTH Phenix City, Alabama(my boyfriend lives here) and Columbus, Georgia(he works here) May to June of this year, so have an idea of the weather. Thanks for that info.

My main concern right now is "safety", but I will repost.

Be blessed and thanks for taking the time to respond.
