Hi, just wondering. I checked out the FEMA map on a few areas in Columbus specifically the Lakebottom area and the downtown area. It appeared that those areas are in a flood zone and require flood insurance. Is this correct? I may have misinterpreted the map.

From what I've researched, there is a problem with the creek that runs through the Lakebottom neighborhoods - Werecoba I think it is. Also problems with heavy rains.

Wanted to ask the locals however .

Thanks!!

Yes,you are required to have everything cover. I only pay 22 dollars for rental insurance.

Thanks for responding. Does anyone know about the coverage required by a lender when buying a house because the property is in a flood plane/zone? Thanks.

Hi Oldhousegirl, what's the story behind your name? Coverage depends on the lender, but as Fountain said, often times flood insurance is a requirement. I'll send you a PM.

That all depends on the lender. One house I was interested in buying needed it and I was using a mortgage broker (someone who shops multiples of different lenders looking for the best deal), the requirements were across the board from take care of it yourself to using only the one approved by the lender. In general, it's a tiny cost and not really something to worry about:
