Anyone heard anything about the old golf gallery building next to the AC Marriott? The hotel is almost complete and they can’t be happy with that eyesore next to their new hotel.

From what I understand is that the building was basically vanilla boxed by the owner and they are just waiting for a tenant to build it out. It's a disappointing plan, I could see leaving the ground floor for a restaurant or store to custom, but the two upper stories should be apartments or at least office space set up as turnkey.

I wouldn't call the building an eyesore, it's just empty. I hope once the alley is finished and decorated that will attract a party to the ground floor. The courtyard space has the potential of being a really unique spot.

I totally agree...on all counts. The hotel website shows an April timeframe for opening. With all these nice new hotels downtown, I hope our Columbus Convention Center, Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as our Chamber of Commerce, are all aggressively seeking conventions and meetings! Particularly the "regulars," and contacting those meeting planners that deemed Columbus to have too few rooms downtown to support their meetings in the past. These hotels definitely add a lot to downtown, including providing options for the corporations located within walking distance!

I do agree that a LOT of time, money and thought went into the design of this hotel. I'm just worried in the current market it's a bit pricey. Looking at Friday and Saturdays into the $210-220~ for a room.

I think weekends will be busy with "weekend getaway" guests due to whitewater and being in a fun, very walkable, downtown. Also for special occasion stays. If I owned this hotel, I'd advertise it heavily to the metro Atlanta area as a great, and close, getaway from Atlanta's big city hassles!

They're too busy advertising Greenville.

Aside from all of the northerner plates, the Fulton and Dekalb plates are very prominent up here. Real Estate prices are definitely reflecting it. There is some nice stuff going on in Columbus too. This forum is a wealth of information. You guys do a good job sharing what's going on in Columbus. I check in to see what's new.
