Has anyone heard of any movement on the 13th Street redevelopment (narrowing) project? This is something I would love to see happen.

The work bid went out last month, so we should begin hearing about or seeing this project moving forward in the coming months.

I'm really excited about it too.

Have you seen any designs. I know some buildings on 13th were purchased last year but no word on what was going in. This is a very important project for the city in my opinion.

The only design I've seen is the proposed plan from the original Midtown report. That is what the council adopted, though minor changes from GDOT wouldn't surprise me.

Starting from the viaduct heading east, speed limit will drop to around 20 mph, the outer straight lane will be converted to a right turn only, meaning there will be two right turn only lanes onto 10th Ave. Across that both existing outer lanes will be converted to a mix of parallel and angled parking. The existing middle turn lane will be converted into an alternating protected turn lane, spaced with landscaped median islands.

General beautification to the sidewalks and new crosswalks at every block. I think an extended bike lane too, from where it ends now at Piggly Wiggly at least to the viaduct and maybe along that to Veterans.

The 2nd Avenue project is another exciting one. First time visitors to Columbus have been made wary by the journey down 2nd Ave to get Downtown for years, this project will go along way to change those negative first impressions.

Hopefully, the unsightly power/utility lines be put underground in both projects, like was done in Mid-town/Wynnton?

Glad to hear it! Hopefully this will kick start more quality development along 13th similar to the shopping center across from Piggly Wiggly (which is also in need of an overhaul).

It’s a really cool opportunity for sure. That area has a ton of potential.
