Where to live in Columbus...3 young boys, want good Catholic elementary and a city with a good hockey program or rink in close proximity....any suggestions? We were told maybe Dublin or Powell? Any thoughts or comments regarding Catholic schools/hockey in those areas?

I think Dublin is a good suggestion. There is a Catholic elementary there, St. Brigid's Saint Brigid of Kildare Catholic Elementary School

There is also an ice rink in Dublin, www.thechiller.com

Sorry no personal experience with either of these but maybe the websites will help. Good luck.

Columbus has two primary youth hockey programs, Capital Amateur Hockey Association (aka CAHA or the "Capitals") and Columbus Chill Youth Hockey Association (aka CCYHA or the "Blue Jackets"). There are only about a half dozen rinks in the Columbus area, and I believe most are located in the northern part of Franklin County. Back when I played (for a youth recreation team in suburban Cleveland), we always played the Capitals at the Fairgrounds Arena, and that place was kind of cool, but in hindsight it was also kind of a dump. Some games were also played at the various Chiller rinks and OSU's tiny on-campus arena, and those are all pretty decent. Both programs seem practice and play out of the Chiller rinks, though.

To be honest, I've always found Columbus' youth hockey system to be a little strange. There aren't local community teams, just the two large programs for the entire city that practice and play out of multiple rinks. And both programs are members of the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League, which means for travel teams there is a lot of commuting that goes on back and forth between Columbus and Cleveland.

At the high school level, I believe St. Charles is the only Catholic school with a varsity hockey team. On the public side Upper Arlington, Dublin, and Worthington all have schools with well-established varsity programs, too.

Just some random thoughts. If you have any other questions, go ahead and ask away. Here are the links to the two youth programs:
