Today for some reason the monitor menu has started appearing frequently in the middle of my screen while i'm working on my computer also if it isnt the monitors menu it a a large lock icon that appears sometimes locked sometimes unlocked.What could cause this and how do i fix it?

What type of monitor is it? What model, etc.?

Usually you can fix locked screens by holding down the menu or power buttons down for an extended period of time.

Its an 8 year old Dell product the icon says model number E177FP, its not locking the screen the icon is just appearing in the middle of whatever i'm doing. The actual icon is about 3 inches by 3 inches.
