I am looking for a pretty basic desktop computer. The most I use it for is my genealogy, I have a genealogy program installed, and use my computer for research. I have quite a few photos stored on it. I don't do any gaming on it and very seldom watch any videos. Could anyone recommend a good basic desktop computer? I don't need a monitor. Thanks!
I agree. In fact, I had recommended that very Asus system not too long ago on another thread. Has plenty of power and RAM, good-size hard drive, Windows 10, even comes with mouse and keyboard. You only have to add a monitor for $115.
Thank you for the recommendation. What is your opinion of refurbished models? I've purchased a netbook and a couple of cell phones and haven't had any problems. Could there be a problem with computers?
No more problem then with a Netbook or a cellphone.
Personally the ONLY things I WON'T buy refurb'ed are: phones and computers. Just personal preference. I prefer knowing a hard drive has zero hours on it. or a battery is brand new.

I have had good luck with refurbished computers and I've bought quite a few for business. They've lasted just as long as new ones and most times they come with new hard drives and a good warranty. Many times part of the refurbishing process involved installing a new hard drive. They have always been Dell or Lenovo. Since I am a the IT guy here at work I support them myself. The savings are substantial and you get a top quality PC in the process. Here is where I would look for refurbushed PC's.
Thanks gguerra! Thanks for the link. Those are much more in my price range. Does Microsoft not support Windows 7 anymore? Is that a problem when purchasing a computer with Windows 7? Why are some computers considered business vs student/home? What do you think would be good specifications for my needs?
