This seems pretty straightforward using TextEdit.

Thanks. #1 is what I'd not figured out. Was expecting the "Print" to be part of the Pages setup. #1 is what I am going to try today.

Try open source Word.
We use Word for all our letters. We have Office 2007 but there is an open source version that is free and will do the same basic things as the MS version.

Good reviews by the CNET staff and users:

No one should be using OpenOffice.

Most of the developers fled once Oracle got their hands on it and proceeded to do what Oracle does - neglect things. Now there's talk of shutting the project down altogether coming from within the Apache organization, which runs the project now. It's down to maybe a half dozen active developers.

LibreOffice is a much safer bet going forward.

Really though, clicking File -> Print in Pages isn't that hard, and Pages looks way nicer on macOS than LibreOffice/OpenOffice which, despite years of development, still haven't figured out how to even make fonts appear the correct size.
