My husband and I are moving to the Columbia area this fall and I would ideally like to find a job in one of the following fields: editing, writing, technical writing, or publishing. I have an English degree, graduated with my BA about 2 years ago, and have roughly 1 year experience in editing. I am not looking for a hook-up with a job (though I wouldn't scoff at one), but am really trying to find out where I should be applying. Are there any publishing, advertising, or writing firms in the area? What magazines and newspapers should I look at? What other employers may have positions like these, available or not?
I am really just looking for a head start. I plan on beginning my job search next week, so I haven't done much research yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Your best bet is to work up your resume and post it on the employment sites: Indeed, Monster, etc. The 'net is full of employment opportunities, some of which may not be what they claim. Do your own due diligence
