Does anyone use a PC without a DVD drive? (CD, laptops, desktop)

I'm thinking of buying one without it since I want a PC with more RAM and I never use my DVD drive. but I'm wondering if anyone bought one without it and regretted it or needed to use it later.
Have one but honestly haven't found a use for it in many years. I wouldn't worry about it, since you can get USB ones very inexpensively if you ever actually need it.
I just put together 3 desktops for home and office.
No internal DVD drives.
External USB drives are just about $25, and less. So, I picked up two of them, and have put them aside.
My main PC still has one since I've re-used the case for a couple of builds. Have not actually used it in at least 3 years. The last computer I built for my daughter this past Christmas doesn't have one at all. I did think about adding one so she could watch DVD's on the computer, but she streams just about anything she could ever want to watch.
My next revision of the main PC will warrant a new case and I will probably completely do away with the DVD drive. If I really end up needing one, you can get an external USB one for dirt cheap and use it on any computer you want.
You should be sure to have a USB drive. You can use it to transfer data from computer to computer.
You should have Bluetooth. Again can us it to transfer files between computers.
You will need wi fi access so you can download updates and purchase software.
If you have an old computer with a DVD you can make an ISO image of the CD and then transfer it to your PC by one of the above methods and install the program. The ISO software is free and in effect it woks like you had a HD.
I like the drive as I like to buy software on a CD. I have an old PC with a drive and use the ISO method to move data to the computer.
now you can buy an external DVD that are connected via USB ...
They are even more reliable than the built-in
Good to know, I just checked online at Amazon and they have a lot of cheap ones. I remember the old ones before they were standard and they were slow and awful.
I guess I won't need one with my next laptop, plus my current laptop has one if I ever need to use it.
Using a surface pro with no DVD as I write. Have a drive on my desktop but haven't used the dvd in years. Agree, buy a USB one for the rare case you might need it, even though I can't imagine why. We get software from the web these days.
Be aware that the cable to the external DVD drives is extremely short (at least it is for my Lite-on) and extensions are not recommended. That means you have to have a space nearby and the port in a reasonable spot.
I built a PC a few months ago, installed a DVD Burner... and have used it once to rip a CD.
