I really wonder how many Win 10 users are aware of that ?
I *knew* about task scheduler, but never thought about using it for Win Defender ...
Still strange that you have to do it *that way* !
You shouldn't have to do this though. I have never changed any setting on the 8 Windows 10 devices I have in the house, and I see Defender scan info in the notification tray a few times a week.
There's a setting in Security and Maintenance to enable Automatic Maintenance. From what I can tell, Defender scans should be running as part of that maintenance.

Not sure which version of Windows you may have but I have not seen any Automatic Maintenance settings in my version of Win 10 ...
I found out you can do that in Win 8 but did not find it in Win 10

Can you write up a sequence of how to do that ?
TIA
Most of mine are 10 home.
I just hit the Windows Key on the keyboard, type "maintenance", and Security and Maintenance is the top option in the list. You can also get there by going to the Control Panel, System and Security, Security and Maintenance.
Then click on Maintenance, and look for the Automatic Maintenance section.

OK ... , I found that part, but how do you know which processes are done in order for the computer to do its maintenance process.
I went the long way, by adding a trigger in the Task Manager section.
