The system and installed fonts would be in the typical fonts folder which is \Windows\Fonts though I am not currently using Windows 10 so not sure if something changed.
One of my favorite freeware developers has a standalone app that could help you with viewing/installing/showing/hiding fonts. It is called FontViewOK
I have been using his Q-Dir app for a while now as a Windows Explorer alternative and have been very happy. FontViewOK looks like a pretty cool app as well so check it out and let me know if it helped.
Thank you, but nope...it didn't work. And what's really weird, I even went into the fonts in regedit...and they're not there either.
Just to be clear, you did sort the Fonts directory list by "Name" header, right? Because I am not sure how it sorts them by default so you might want to make sure they are sorted by name.
Those fonts might have been bundled with an app or an add-on but once installed, they would have been added to Fonts folder like the rest. Out of curiosity, what are the ones you were trying to hide?
Also, what did you mean by "I even went into the fonts in regedit...and they're not there either."?

I looked down the entire list of the regular font file and the font file you find in regedit. Several of the fonts that show up (for example in Microsoft Word) are simply not there...and none are just "hidden" (for example, Angsana New). And not only that, but in the pull down window in Microsoft Word, there are fonts that when you hover above them it says "select to download". BTW, I have the commercial version of malware bites, so I don't really think that's the issue. I've probably read 50 articles on line, and none address this issue.
I really appreciate your attention.
But to answer your question. I went into regedit and found the list of fonts there, too. Also came up dry for those missing fonts.

I believe you are referring to "C:\Windows\Fonts" folder when you said "font file" and the font file in registry is the Fonts key under "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\" (64-bit systems would also have another under "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\"
OK, if Angsana is one of those fonts you mentioned, it is definitely hidden but still visible via document processors (Libre Office shows it in the fonts drop-down list as well) but more importantly, it is both in the Fonts folder under C:\Windows as well as listed in the aforementioned "Fonts" keys in registry (see screenshot). So, I am not sure if I misunderstood or there is something else going on?
If you truly want to hide a font, you will need to delete it. That is the only time it will disappear from the drop-down lists and also relieve whatever burden it is causing on the system. to be perfectly honest though, getting rid of a dozen or so fonts is not likely to make any difference on the system. You would have to dump 100 or more to have any impact.

But that's the problem. On your computer Angsana (for example) is there in the font file. On mine it is not there. Yet I find it in drop down menus for (for example) Microsoft Word.
Angsana doesn't, but yes, I have several of those, too. Are they safe?
And where exactly are those stored?
Mine doesn't have anything of that sort so I wasn't sure what you were referring to but with Windows 10 and newer versions of Office being linked to online store, I believe they are listed as "available".
If they are not in the Fonts folder then they are not installed. So, nothing to delete or hide. Hope this clarified better.
