Well I just ordered the cable from that link. Do you happen to know where the cable goes? I'm not trolling, computers drive me up the wall. I'm better with smart phones, but now I need to print stuff.
As mentioned, plug it into a router first if possible. If convenient, leave it that way. Then any computer or phone on your network should be able to print to it.
Guys what would you do if you were in my situation? It seems like a simple thing but I am totally lost and frustrated. And I have no idea what to do or which site to look at.

That’s a USB cable. One end should go into the printer and the other into your MacBook Air. If your MacBook is very new it might not have a USB-A connection but USB-C in which case you’ll need an adapter.

Okay, maybe I'll need an adapter. But for now, hopefully my chromebook can do the job.
Hmm. Thanks. The printer doesn’t show up though under system preferences. So not sure what to do on the printers end. I’ll try to see if I can find the site.
I am probably as bad as or worse when it comes to hooking up electronic stuff, but, I thought I would pass along a tip I learned after hours of trying to hook up my printer to Wifi after I bought a new router. (Really glad I bought an extended warranty on the new Wifi router, because, it came with 30 days of free tech support.)
So, anyway, I found written instructions for my 6 yr old printer and followed the instructions that appeared on the little screen on the printer. All went well until it asked me to select the method to connect and it referenced WEP. What the heck was WEP and how do I select it? Went thru the process a dozen times before I finally called the number for my new router's customer support. Turns out all I needed to do when I reached that point in the instructions was to go over to my new router and press the button on the top of the router and hold it down for 5 seconds!
The trouble with instructions for electronics they assume you know what WEP stands for and that it is an unlabeled button on the top of a different piece for equipment. It's like trying to read a set of instructions in a foreign language.
