Hey everyone ...hi....I have windows XP and recently I am having "outlook express" message coming up on my screen (only at start up) it is saying it can compact my messages to free up disk space. I do not use "outlook express" I use att/yahoo. How can I get rid of this very annoying! I sure would appreciate some advice. Is it ok to just delete "outlook"? Thank You............

It's easy to do.

click the Start button
Then Settings
Then Control Panel

Open Add Remove Programs
Then on the left click on Add Remove Windows Components
Scroll down the list and uncheck Outlook Express.
Then click OK.

Bada bing bada boom, it's removed.

Or you could just tell it to go ahead and compact the messages.

Bummer... did not work by uncheck in add/remove, I even double checked to see if it was unchecked. So while I was there I unchecked "windows messenger" to see if that would help...nope. That is no biggie to leave windows messenger out is it?

I will try doing the compact messages..wasn't sure what was going on....Thanks guys (or girls)

Guy. I doubt letting it compact will harm anything, especially since you don't use it, or is it running without your knowledge?

You should open it and see what's in the message section. Wouldn't it be interesting if it's full of current email?

Yah.... got rid of it by letting it do what it wanted to do. There were no messages in Outlook express unless it compacted them so small they cannot be found...he he. I hate winter too...Tek....

It may be that MS will send another copy in one of the updates. I remember trying to get rid of it a few years ago. I'm doing a little experiment to see if it will come back this time around. I did a search for Outlook Express, then I dragged the files to Inferno.
