If you would take the time to read the basic information on the AVG Free web page you would see that the free version provides virus protection only, and that the Internet Protection version (NOT free) provides a lot of additional protections, including email.

I didn't want to start a new thread.

Has anyone else received the notification that the free AVG support will end March 18? It wants you to update but the new version isn't free

The only thing being discontinued is support for version 7.5. 8.5 is out now and is still free. Get it at AVG Free - Download antivirus and antispyware software for Windows XP and Vista.

I watch AVG Free Edition scan my messages every time I start my email on the machines that have AVG.

Thank you EscapeCalifornia, I tried it but then it was causing an issue w/McAfee (I was getting that free) but now McAfee is screwing up so I removed it and will try AVG again.

You never want to run more than one antivirus program at a time. Getting rid of McCrappy is a good idea even though its free. I've "fixed" a lot of computers just by removing it.

Are you getting and error message? Did you uninstall the old one first? You can also try deleting its program folder and registry keys and retry the installation.
