Used to be able. Using a fairly new PC, Windows Vista. Tried to get screen shot and paste into MS Paint (have done it before) and cannot - any ideas (besides "it's a virus" )? Thx

Why don't you use the snipping tool?

That was either a somewhat obscure PC reference or an odd joke. Either way I'm afraid it didn't help much.

Type "snip" in Vista's Start Menu search box.

Print screen? If it is a website that doesn't want that, there are ways. The foreground image is of a blank page, other stuff is behind it.

The Snipping Tool is one of the most useful functions of Vista. If you have Vista Basic, you may need to activate it according to the article here: Activate Vista's Snipping Tool - PC World

Thanks so much for this information. I was going nuts trying to find an alternative to Alt+Prt Scr because it wasn't working for me either.

the alt/shift prnt scrn should still would shouldn't it? I'd be pretty upset if I had to launch a program just to do a screen capture. There are some things that just need to stay as a short cut key.
