I have Windows XP Professional and want to know if there is a way to stop the automatic updates from appearing, it keeps appearing like every 15 mins and it's getting annoying.
Sometimes people aren't smart enough to ask the right question. EscapeCalifornia provided the answer to the question that should have been asked.

Good grief! Lighten up. Sure, you answered the OP's question, but EC's comment was appropriate, as was MBA's. I don't think EC's possible employment with the government is relevant to this thread.
Enh, I run without automatic updates. I despise my machine traipsing off across the internet downloading god-knows-what. I manually do updates every now and again, and select the ones that I want.
After all, if my system is stable, I don't want Microsoft mucking it up automatically.
