What do you think is the best beach in Stamford? Cove is nice, but is more of a park than a beach. We're looking for as big a beach as possible (anything comparable to Fairfield beaches closer to Stamford?).

There are two beaches in Cove Island Park, one in Cummings Park, another one in West Beach, and one more in Southfield Park.

I think you will like West Beach, although the longest beach is probably on Cove Island. West Beach almost always has a peaceful ambiance given the type of people that visit this place, Cove Island has more of a family friendly feel, Cummings is much more varied, and I can't say what's the feel of Southfield Beach. I've been there a handful of times, but mostly to photograph birds, but that's not enough exposure to say what the typical ambiance is like. Also, I haven't been to the actual beach, just to the pier nearby.

There are other beaches but they are not open to the public. Most belong to private estates and a handful to private social clubs.

There are no beaches in that area that compare with Fairfield beaches (or the ones east of Fairfield).

West Beach is probably the nicest in Stamford. Greenwich Point Park is probably the best beach in that area. It's not like the eastern beaches, it's kind of its own thing. Really nice spot though.

IMO the best beaches start in Westport and eastward.

West Beach probably. Cummings is nice and Cove is nice, but West Beach is a bit more "private" in a way
