My sister and best friend are meeting me in Clinton next week as it is about half way between where they live and I am working at the moment.

Is there a good restaurant for lunch in the shopping district? I'm assuming that there is a shopping district in the downtown area, I hope I'm not wrong.

Turns out we have a family connection to the city too. Our first ancestor to come to this country lived there, so that is pretty cool too. Is there a museum or historical society that we could check out too?

Any ideas for 'don't miss' places would be great. TIA!

Not too far from Clinton is Old Saybrook. If you meander over that way, I recommend:

The Back Porch
142 Ferry Road
Old Saybrook, CT 06475
(860) 510-0282

Not sure what you mean by the "shopping district". Do you mean main street or the Clinton Crossing?

Malones is a little coffee house deli on main street...but that's about all I'd recomend IN Clinton.

Anyway, IMO the best eating is a mile or two East in Westbrook.

Westbrook Lobster
Lenny and Joes Fishtail
New Deal Steak Place
Zio Ciccios
Harbor Seal Family Grille

You can go the other direction into Madison too.

clinton does not have a concentrated downtownlike some other comunities. There are a few shops and restaurants but nothing like you would find in Old Saybrook or Madison. That said I agree you should try Lenny & Joe's Fishtale. It is great. Jay
