Actually it comes out of the Athletic Department's budget which gets much of its funding from merchandising and selling television rights. Since Calhoune has brought up the basketball program from the minor leagues to national prominence, Also helped the Womens and Football programs to be nationally recognized. I think his salary is worth it. Jay

It's one of the few government agencies that can actually make profit and does. So no, I think it's perfectly fine. He pays for himself and then some.

not sure he had much to do with the womens program. Geno was hired about the same time as Calhoun and proceeded to do exactly what Calhoun did - build the program to national prominence. in fact the women won their first NC before the men did (1995 vs 1999).

A collective effort by both programs has led to Uconn's elite status in college basketball.

However, due to the advantage Men's college basketball has over Women's with regards to ratings and exposure, I'm sure the Men's program has had a much greater influence on the overall athletic program as well as women's bball.

HOLY bump.

43 percent chance they win it. (Non scientific calc). Everyone seems to be of the mindset, "They weren't even as good last year so they will have a CAKE WALK this year". The tournament doesn't really work that way. Single elimination. Have to win 6 in a row. Never easy. That's why the number 1 overall seed hasn't won it in 11 years.

No matter how they do, each program had a very good year.
