Hi,
I notice this month, my Comcast bill went up a couple of bucks even tho I have a 2 year contract.

Calling Comcast, they explained it was "across the board", but the customer service rep, couldn't do more than explain that, and offered the comment that he expected it was within their contract rights.

HOWEVER, when I read my contract it say, " We may change our prices, fees, the Service and/or terms and conditions of this Agreement in the future. Unless this Agreement or applicable law specifies otherwise, we will give you thirty(30) days prior notice of any significant change to this agreement. If you find the change unacceptable, you have the right to cancel your Services"...

What ya'll think? But I guess there is no alternative. ATT is not in my neighborhood.

"Comcast Customer Service" That's funny. You mean those people that pick up the phone when you call, right?

I've called them 4 times in the last month and they couldn't solve any problem I had or answer any question. Even when I tried to expand my service they screwed it up. After three failed attempts I decided I would live with what I have. They are completely inept. They were recently voted the worst customer service in the entire country and they were caught trying to rig the voting too!

If ATT were more savvy, they could rake in a ton of new customers because many folks would jump at the chance to dump comcast . They are too slow in making Uverse available. I live 10 minutes from New Haven and we still don't have it. Pathetic.

All I can say is cough up the two bucks and bide your time...

Yeah you're right Trainspotter. There is no real option without AT&T for competition, but I am writing Congressman Murphy as we "speak"

The problem is the "franchise fees" that the cable and phone companies pay to each town for the right to put cabling under the "municipally owned roads". Basically, they bribe the town to create a monopoly. They claim there is competition since you can choose either a single cable co or a single telco, but that's not competition. And, even worse, the cable co and telco are allowed to pass these costs through to us. So, basically, we're paying the town for some company to have a monopoly and limit competition.

I for 1 would welcome the switch to make internet access a regulated utility - would force the cable co's to provide better service, limit price increases, and still allow for innovation. With most TV being accessible over the Internet, there is less and less need for a traditional cable TV signal. That might also push the content providers towards actually embracing new technology and streaming services instead of doing everything they can to fight against it.
