Looking for ethinic restaurants in the Southington area. Came from NY metropolitan area and are looking for good retaurants that serve more than hamburgers and beer (nothing against the 2, just would like more choices).

You will probably need to travel a bit to find mor einteresting food options. West Hartford has a great restaurant scene and is not too far from Southington. I am not sure if there is a Cuban restaurant there though there is a great Spanish restaurant in Hartford named Costa del Sol. It is the only restaurant I have found that serves palella like my grandmother use to make. Jay

In downtown Waterbury there are La Cazuela and Via Al Paraiso. Both are very tasty and affordable Hispanic restaurants right next door to each other.

To add to that, there are a ton of really good ethnic restaurants in NH. If you're ever in the Newtown area, check out Kolam. Some of the best Indian in the state, along with its Coromandel sister restaurants.

While both Puerto Rican restaurants you have these two in Meriden and Wallingford.

There are a couple Cuban places in Hartford if you want to head there.

There is a ton of "ethnic" foods in CT, you just have to travel around a bit depending on what you want. Southington is a burb, not a city really so don't expect to find much there.

Edit to add, please check out the "foodie thread" for suggestions. TONS of listings in there.

Doesn't the word "tatas" mean "breasts" in english? Seems like a strange name for a restaurant.

Stranger things have happened, my friend. In Florida, there's a town called Punta Gorda - gorda in Spanish means "fat," punta in Spanish means, literally "b i t c h." I am not making this up. And you thought this restaurant has it bad!

It's not "Tatas." I'm not sure if there's another term for "tatas," but it might be a surname.

And "punta" means "point." "****" is the curse word.

To the OP: find a Peruvian place and try Lomo Saltado (it comes with this sauce called Aji which makes the meal 10x better). Sooooo goooood.

~Cheers
