Interested in moving in another three months, looking at communities in and around Windsor.

I work in Windsor but commute from Bristol, which can be a real pain (35-45 mins one-way), looking to shorten that up.

Willing to spend up to $1,000/month for rent. Would like recommendations for cities/towns close by to Windsor (or if you recommend Windsor itself)

Only need 1-2 bedrooms, would love washer/dryer hookup.

So was considering:

Suffield
Enfield
Granby
E Granby
Simsbury
Bloomfield
Avon
W Hartford
Hartford
E Hartford
Manchester
Windsor
S Windsor
E Windsor

It depends what you're looking for. If you want a more rural setting then East Granby works. Windsor and Bloomfield have more rental options. If you go east of the river I'd recommend easy access to I-291 since I-91 can be difficult at various times of the day.

Things get more complicated for some people when kids and school options are involved. If that is not an issue, then anyone of those communities could work if they have the amenities and conveniences you are looking for.

Sorry, should've specified:

no kids, just my wife and myself. In our early 30's, don't really care about partying.

Just want a rental unit with washer/dryer hookup, 1-2 bedrooms, 1-2 baths.

Looking to cut my commute down, work in the Kennedy Rd area of Windsor.

We prefer a quiet location if possible.

I would start in Windsor itself and then look further out if you can't find anything. Jay

Your budget sort of disqualifies you from places like Avon and West Hartford, and I wouldn't go into a city like Hartford with that budget - you're liable to end up in a really nasty area.

I agree in looking around the immediate vicinity of Windsor, as that will be more affordable than closer to Hartford.

I work in the same area you do.

I found these for you:

1 floor Condo (http://hartford.craigslist.org/apa/2505489696.html - broken link)
Udolf Properties - Residential

Thanks for the advice. I prefer on Craigslist to search for properties with photos, as I try to avoid old, run-down looking locations if I can.

With managed community properties, I'm always open to recommendations. I'm sure there's some decent ones, but there's also the ones with lots of Section 8 people, kids loitering around at all hours of the night, noise from neighbors, etc.

Would prefer a quiet location, we tend to keep to ourselves for the most part.

Also, we can probably swing up to $1200 for a place per month, so likely looking at a range of 800-1200/month. i'm sure we'll find something

I have heard good things about the Rivers Bend Apartments in Windsor. They may be a bit pricey but they are nice. Here is a link to their site. Jay

I second this recommendation. I know 2 people who live here one's a renter the other is an owner. This property is well kept and you won't find any section 8 people there. Some positives about this place

EZ on/off from I-91 exit 38 (I think Kennedy Rd is exit 39)
Price chopper directly across the street that you can walk to
Buffalo wild wings in the same plaza as price chopper - so you can walk home after drinking alcohol.
Windsor town center 2 min drive. Town center also has an Amtrak station.
About 5 miles from Bradley airport via RT 75 north.
