Is this feasible or is it too much at peak times in the car? We live way north of Ct now but moving to Montvale NJ next week... Ct would be great because of Colleges for Hubby and I have my RE CT license.... also looking at Bergen County and Orange and Rockland county in NY.

That would be a pretty brutal commute. Gotta figure at least 90 minutes most days.

I don't really understand the question though. You're moving to Montvale? You mean your job is moving there?

Yeah I too am confused by what you are asking. Is your job moving to Montvale and you want to live in Ridgefield. Montvale is about 45 miles from Ridgefield so the commute would be at least an hour. Plus you will have to cross the Tappen Zee Bridge and deal with traffic through Westchester county which can be difficult. I would recommend living near Montvale. This is a nice part of New Jersey and there are many nice towns nearby. I like towns like Ramsey, Allendale, Ho Ho Kus, Woodcliff Lake Westwood, Upper Saddle River and Saddle River. Ask for recommendations on the New Jersey Board. I am sure people there can help. Jay

My husbands job is taking him to Montvale, we have driven and looked at the places in jersey,Bergen County you suggested, there are hardly any decent rentals in our price range, we would Love to be there....its looking more and more now that it will have to be Orange county NY..We want single family and do not want to pay more than 2400 a month..impossible around Montvale NJ.

I agree. Since the OP was talking about Ridgefield I assumed that budget was not a problem. To the OP, Rockland County New York is directly north of Montvale, have you looked there? Jay

looked at Rockland, and the agent agreed it is more expensive than Orange. On craigslist and realtor.com though i did find some cheaper rentals in Ridgefield and Orange county so i will continue my search. thanks though.

Ridgefield, Connecticut or Ridgefield, New Jersey? ridgefield, Connecticut is an upscale suburb that can be pretty expensive. Orange County will be cheaper but note it is further from Montvale and mean a commute for your husband. Chekc with the New York Board to see how bad that commute will be. Jay

I think you're getting Ridgefield NJ and Ridgefield CT mixed up. Ridgefield CT is probably even more expensive than Montvale and the towns around it.
