Thanks. I was confused by his post. Where we are, people are friendly and the area is scenic and quiet. Must be another Derby.....

Pretty much. I think Olivia and Hawkins are the one's that have the most "incidents". Still, pretty tame compared to the lessor areas of Bridgeport.

Default Area near the train station?

Hi all,

I'd like to take my son on the train from Waterbury to Bridgeport, grab a bite to eat, and then head back.

How is the area near the train station in terms of safety? Also, any tips on where to eat with a three year old?

Thanks in advance,

El

The Bridgeport train station is in downtown which is generally safe. There are a number of restaurants there but I am not sure any are geared toward a 3 year old. Others here may know better. Ralph & Rich's on Main Street is excellent. Jay

Thanks. Ralph and Rich's menu looks awesome, but not sure if I can find something there for my son.

I might take Amtrak from Hartford to New Haven and look for something there, instead.

Thanks a lot for your reply,

El

There are many more food options in New Haven. Aside from the obvious pizza choices (Pepe's, Sally's, Bar, Modern, Kitchen Zinc), Louis Lunch and Prime 16 are great casual burger joints.

Btw Epernay is an awesome Bridgeport restaurant walkable from the train station, but not sure about kid friendly.

In this instance rates are rather unimportant, especially in regards to feeling safe. Only the crime that effects a particular person matters. In most cities the violent crime is generally directed at other criminals so if the poster isn't a drug dealer the murder rate, while a cause of concern of course, is nothing for him to fear. Even robbery and burglary, how many random whites(I'm assuming the member is) have had their homes invaded or cars jumped in, in Bridgeport? I don't know to be honest, but I'm willing to guess zero. people should live wherever they like for what ever reason they like, but the statistics you posted weren't very relevant to his post, folks don't live in stats. Bristol has a far lower crime rate than Hartford but there is no where in Hartford I am apprehensive about going, but Bristol due to famously racist police I avoid (well that's not quite honest, I wouldn't be going there anyway- but you get my point)
