I am moving to West Norwalk, CT and wonder what people know to be the fastest up/download speed internet provider. I am moving from California where I enjoy Verizon FIOS at 35/35 speeds. From what I can tell, FIOS is only available in Greenwich at this time. AT&T's Uverse looks to offer 18/5 which is a far cry from 35/35 - any help is appreciated!

Unless you'll be frequently uploading large files, or looking to utilize remote access to your home systems, 5Mbit upload speed should be sufficient. I'd worry more about your download speeds...but 18Mbit should be fine for typical web browsing, streaming, etc. unless you have 3 or 4 people actively using the connection at the same time. Then you might have an issue, but doubtful. Most of the latency at that point would be on your in-home wireless connection.

Cablevision offers higher speeds, but that's burst speeds at perfectly optimal times with nobody else in the neighborhood on the shared wire. It's just typically cheaper. If I had to choose between UVerse and Cablevision, and cost wasn't as important, I'd stick with Uverse.
