First time getting a live tree and would like recommendations on where to get it...preferably like to cut our own and range of prices would be deciding factor. I heard Treat Farm in Orange was pretty good...does anyone know the price range there or any other place?

The Christmas Tree thread I found was a year ago so wanted an updated status...

Here's a whole list of places , but Treat's probably closest to you. Also, if you have small children who will be going along to "help", sometimes a place that has refreshments, etc. is nice. Price is usually, but not always, going to vary by size and sometimes by tree variety.

Check carefully as you read as many places only take cash.

Christmas Tree Farms: Where in Connecticut to find choose-and-cut Christmas trees, Tree lots with pre-cut trees, stands, sleigh rides, hay rides and related winter events and fun!

We go to Schremmps in Clinton. Which may be a little farther than you want to go. /nothelpful. But all trees are 35 bucks, cash only, no snacks.

We go to Jones in Shelton. I think it was kinda pricey (55-60, if I remember correctly).

It's $63 now. We go there every year, though. It's our favorite local tree farm.

We've been going to Pinchbeck's in Guilford. All trees are $ 43 any size. Unfortunately, you can't pre tag, so it's go and cut that day.

I went to Jones and bought one of their "fresh cut" trees. It was HORRIBLE. Dropped all its needles almost immediately. Must've been sitting in the barn for ages. Obviously wouldn't be an issue with cut-your-own, but man was I disappointed (and it wasn't cheap).

On a side note, the year before I got my tree from Robert Treat Farm in Milford and it was fantastic. Full, beautiful and kept its needles for over a month until I threw it away (only a couple fell off on the way out the door).

The only downside is they just stock them, you don't cut your own.

That's where we have gone too and we've been very happy with the quality/prices. It's a bit of a drive from the OP though.

I didn't even know they sold pre-cut trees. Jones Farm is definitely a pick/cut your own type of place.
