gets his asking price within 2 weeks of putting it on the market. I'd have bought it, but it was a bit cramped for me - I mean, only a 14 seat movie theater and only 4.5 bathrooms?

Yep, house is in NY, not in CT. Check out the annual property taxes paid to the Town of North Castle -- $191,000!!!!

$191K?

That's all?

I'm actually being serious here. Given that i've seen plenty of $500,000 properties with ~$15K tax bills in Westchester County, i would have expected the tax bill on a $27,500,000 estate to be more like >$500K.

taxes tend to skew downwards after a certain level. Or, not climb as fast once you get past a certain price point and also past a certain number of garages, bathrooms, square footage, etc.

This is why I always tell people in CT that it's not as bad(expensive) people make it out to be. People always think NY is cheaper and it is so not. My buddy has a $475,000 home in Hartsdale with property taxes of $19,000.

I lived in Westechester County almost all my life, its very expensive and you dont get a lot of house or property for what they charge.

Forgot the taxes. Look at the mortgage payment!

Interested in Ron Howard’s home, or other homes for sale in Greenwich, CT? Mortgage calculations show that a monthly mortgage payment for Howard’s home, based on 20 percent down ($5,500,000) and a 30-year fixed rate comes to $133,794 a month.

Yup, I was told by the law firm that they don't even know who bought it. It's under a trust name. Buyer didn't have to show up to the closing.

"Both Ms. Lurie and Mr. Haymson declined to identify the buyer."

"The home is located in the gated community of Conyers Farm, which straddles the border of Greenwich, Conn., and Armonk"

Wow, that Converse Lake that this property is on is pretty swanky. Looks like every house is a mega-mansion. I guess that Conyers Farm parcel only came to the market in the 80's, when large plots of land in that area were already worth a fortune.
