Figured I revive an old thread for any young workers looking to come into Connecticut. I fall into this range (age) and Connecticut, for the most part, has treated me well. My industry is not location specific so I have no first hand experience in what Hartford has to offer, but the guess is that if you want to get into insurance/finance or business you can do pretty well here.

Two CT Metro Regions Among Nation’s Best for Young Workers | Connecticut By The Numbers

I have my doubts on the ability to buy a house in the Hartford area with a median earning of $42,300/yr. Most young people want to start a family and are looking for safe area/good schools. Towns that offer that in the Hartford Area will require a larger salary than that (plus add in taxes and utilities).

No way in the Stamford Area you are buying a house on $42,700/yr.

Either way, CT has something to offer young people looking to jump start their career.

Newington, Cromwell, Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, Plainville & Berlin are all safe places to live where you could buy a starter home for under $250,000, and sometimes under $200,000.

82 Linden St, Plainville, CT 06062 is For Sale - Zillow

37 Elm Rd, Cromwell, CT 06416 is For Sale - Zillow

True.

The issue I had wit the article is that it mentions being able to buy an home in the Hartford Burbs (a good town) on an entry level salary. If they took that out of the equation and mentioned renting it would be spot on, but the being able to buy a home right off the bat is not correct.

You could certainly buy a condo in a nice town on a starting salary in the Hartford area. Jay
