Asphalt plants are not open yet.
For the worst of the potholes they can use cold patch. That is very temporary though.

Those M8 units are absolutely going to SLE. Hartford Line is not electrified so the M8 cars will be replacing existing stock on SLE while the old SLE stock goes to Hartford Line.

At the very least it's good to see the cars are being refurbished being started a new life on Hartford line. Existing SLE rail cars look and feel ancient inside.

So what is the slate of expected transit improvemebts for Connecticut this year aside from Hartford Line service in May? Is the frequency or speed of SLE or the New Haven line going to be upped? Are there new stations or tracks or rolling stock for those two this year?

I had read all M8’s are going to New Haven line.

Edit: this article mentions adding M8’s to SLE but nothing definitive on # or date:

Actually unless the state legislature comes up with more funds for the Transportation Fund you will likely see cuts in service. As has been noted here, the gas tax which is the primary source of funding for transportation, has not been increased in 20 years so the fund is running out of money. Governor Malloy has warned that unless the legislature acts, cutbacks in train service is likely. We just can’t afford service that is less used and less essential. Jay

Tolls made more sense than gas tax the state can easily made 150-280 million per year off tolls on 95, Merrit Parkway, 84, 91

Hartford Line could have delay opening pending the repairs on trains from Massachusetts CT only got 4 out of 16 trains so far.

No new M8 railcars for Shoreline East because Fairfield County is red hot right now with increase ridership.

“Connecticut officials said they originally expected to shift M-8 rail cars currently used on the New Haven Line to the Shore Line East commuter line, and use non-electric Shore Line East cars for the new Hartford Line. But they said increases in peak ridership on the New Haven Line have required DOT to use all available M-8 cars on that commuter service.”
