Have most posters on this forum stayed in CT their whole life? Anyone move away from College and move back?

It's rare.

CT has virtually zero appeal to young people, for various reasons.

I'll bet even the usual CT-cheerleaders on this board will admit to having at least ventured away for a significant period of time.

These days, does anyone really stay put for their entire lives??? I could see it in CA, because it's huge and there are multiple business hubs, but even then I hardly know anyone like that.

some people, my mom literally has lived on the same plot of land since she was born. Her parents built a property next door where my dad and her live now. She'll admit she should have tried somewhere different.

CT has virtually zero appeal for young people? I'll be sure to yell that at the hundreds of thousands of young people all over the state

I've never moved away. And while it's sort of tough I look around and I'm in a much better position than many of my peers. I'll be ready to start to save up to buy a house, finish paying off my car, half my student loans while many of my peers even nearing thirty are still living off of their parent's dime. My other friends that "stayed behind" have loads in savings, personal property, workforce experience... so I dunno.

I grew up in southwestern CT and went to college in state. I spent a short amount of time living in both Charlotte and Long Island, then moved to Los Angeles, before I decided I wanted to move back here. Switched careers, bought a house and here I am. I don't regret living elsewhere because it made me realize what a nice place CT is to call home, even though I have a love/hate relationship with the state. There are a lot of good, genuine people here.
