They can't "fudge" them too much because those numbers must be reported to the Feds. Even if they increased them 20%, the busway is still doing better than projected. Jay

It's not about simply increasing/decreasing, it's about when/where/why/how they're obtaining their numbers. Statistics can be skewed to fit nearly any agenda. Malloy's office has done this before, and I believe they're doing it with this. They are snakes.

The budget was fine and dandy when Rell left office? News to me.

Yes, he inherited a mess. No, is performance is not worthy of reelection, IMO. Let's not revise history, however...

Are these numbers directly from Malloy's office or from the department of transportation?

I ask because chances are the state employees involved with assessing the busway were working for the state long before Malloy took office.

Malloy's recent orders for all state employees to review any comments with his office before speaking to the press shows he does not trust them. This also hints Malloy has little to no control over various departments aka they are not his cronies.

You don't think the governor's office has their hands in everything the DOT (and other state depts) does/says?

Why would Malloy have a hand in everything?

Most of these departments are filled with staffers who spend a lifetime on the state payroll and keep that job no matter who takes office. Malloy has more to lose by ordering a department to lie since invariably there will be at least one employee who blows the whistle.

As someone who's employed by a government agency with staffers who spend a lifetime on the state payroll, and keep that job no matter who takes office, I can tell you the governor plays a huge part in how things are run on a daily basis.
